American Indian Health Policy: Historical Trends and Contemporary Issues

This journal article points out the Indian health system is diverse and vulnerable, and the need exists to closely monitor laws and regulations that challenge the ability of tribes to receive and to provide health services. Policy and program development needs to avoid unnecessary barriers and to improve tribal relationships with all levels of government.
