This podcast and article shares the story of Nicole Veum, who had struggled with her emotions in her twenties and ended up using drugs to cope. Veum's family got her into treatment and she'd been sober for nine years when she and her husband, Ben, decided to have a baby. Motherhood was something she wanted to feel. However, the childbirth process had a higher risk of relapse due to the lack of communication between hospitals and medical staff not necessarily making the best call.
