This blog discusses the IRS requirement for non-profit hospitals to conduct Community Health Needs Assessment and suggest ways to achieve the promises of CHNA. The author discusses five strategies to facilitate population health improvement, collaboration with the healthcare delivery system and community-based organizations, flexibility for community definition based on IRS request, suggests reasons for changing the associated requests, and discussion on using CHNA as a guide to address community disparities.
